THE REGISTRY

BRIEF HISTORY OF THE REGISTRY

The Registry is as old as the Institution. It started with the establishment of the Institution in 1978. It is the administrative nerve centre of the Institution, where information from within and outside the Institution is received, recorded, processed, stored, retrieved and disseminated as at when due.

The Registry is one of the Divisions in the Institution, and the wheel upon which the Institution rotates. It is a very important section of the Institution. Its duties are purely administrative which touches the whole facets of the Institution.

The Registry carries out its administrative roles through its various departments which are headed by Deputy Registrars. There are 13 departments in the Registry viz:

  • Office of the Registrar
  • Central Administration
  • Senior Staff Personnel (SSP)
  • Junior Staff personnel (JSP)
  • Admissions
  • Examinations (HND)
  • Examinations (ND)
  • Records & Statistics (HND)
  • Records & Statistics (ND)
  • Council Matters
  • Legal Matters
  • Certification Verification; and
  • Archiving – (Registry Information Resource Centre)

Registry Staff are also found in all Academic/Non Academic Departments and Directorates carrying out Administrative responsibilities.

THE REGISTRAR

The Registrar is the Administrative Head of the Institution responsible to the Rector for the day to day administration of the Institution. He is the Secretary to the Governing Council, Academic Board and their various Committees. He is also the head of the Registry Division. He is assisted in the discharge of his administrative duties by the Deputy Registrars, who are heads of the various Departments listed above.

PROFILE OF THE REGISTRAR

The current Registrar is the 7th Registrar of the Institution. His name is Mr. Iloba Matthew Aligbe. He hails from Onicha Olona in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State. He is the current Chairman of Conference of Registrars of Polytechnics & Colleges of Technology in Nigeria (COREG). He is a JP and an Ambassador of Peace.

He assumed duties as the Registrar of the Institution on 11th January, 2010. He is at the verge of rounding up his tenure which terminates on January 10th, 2020. His tenure has witnessed excellence, vibrant and peaceful atmosphere in the campus. He is a distinguished administrator and a team player in Management. His administrative acumen has contributed to distinguish the Institution, as the “Number One Polytechnic in Nigeria and the Most Sort after Polytechnic in the country. According to the rankings of National Board for Technical Education, and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.

Professionally, he belonged to many professional bodies most of which he is a fellow. He is happily married with four (4) children.
